Braintree Electric Light Department (BELD) is one of 41 municipal light departments organized under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 164, and one of more than 2,200 municipally owned light departments in the country. BELD is recognized locally and nationally as an innovator in technology and new services. In 2000, after running a new hybrid fiber coax network throughout the town, the department began offering High-Speed Internet service to Braintree residents. Over the following years, that was expanded to include phone services to both residents and businesses in town.

Cable equipment we NEED returned to BELD

Since we are "cutting the cord" and discontinuing our Cable TV service on December 2, some people are curious what they need to do with their cable equipment. You can return it all to our Customer Service department at 150 Potter Road, or some of the older cable equipment can just be put in with the trash.

There are a couple specific cable boxes that we do need returned to our offices or a charge will be added to your account, they are listed below:
